Nashua’s Iconic Milano’s House of Pizza Announces
New Ownership; Transition Expected Mid-July
NASHUA, NH — Milano’s House of Pizza Nashua which, since 1982, has been in business under the ownership of Frank and Jenny Liakakos, and their children, George and Maria, will come under new management and ownership in mid-July.
Goodbye After 40+ Years of Hard Work
In the coming weeks, after more than four decades of tireless work, dedication, and a lot of dough tossing, the Liakakos family will hang up their aprons and handover the reins to the new owners of Milano’s, Jay Capshaw and Dave Curran.
“We intend for everything to remain the same. Our staff, who our beloved customers know so well, will stay in their positions, and the family recipes that have graced our menu for more than 40 years will not change. It will be a seamless transition, with the same great eats and familiar faces,” said George Liakakos.
A Step Toward Freedom
After immigrating to the United States from Greece at the young age of 14, Frank Liakakos had his sights set on entrepreneurship.
When speaking to the Nashua Telegraph in May 2022, Liakakos said,”I always wanted to be free because I could depend on myself; I knew I could do it if I was free to do it.”
At the age of 30, he partnered with Arthur Tsionis and together they opened Nashua’s iconic pizza and sub shop: Milano’s House of Pizza. That partnership lasted roughly ten years, before Frank and Jenny took over the restaurant on their own. It wasn’t until 2010, after a few years of health setbacks for Frank and his son, when George with the help of his wife Jessica officially stepped in to help manage the bar and kitchen, as well as make some cosmetic improvements over the years.
Milano’s House of Pizza Nashua, located in the wedge-shaped building at the fork of Broad and Amherst streets, has sometimes been called legendary with its annual Greek night celebration (complete with live music and belly dancing), spirited game-day atmosphere every Sunday, and George’s “pop-up” specials.
“It’s been a great run for us. We are not just a pizza place anymore, but now it is time to look forward and we’re all excited to begin this new chapter,” said George.
“We are really going to miss the staff and the customers,” said Jessica
“Thank you everyone,” said Frank
“To all the memories and relationships we built here together,” said Jenny
Next Stop: Retirement
What does the future hold for the Liakakos family?
For Frank and Jenny that means some well-deserved time off, travel, and spending time with their grandchildren. In the meantime, George is excited to enter into a new business endeavor outside the industry. Not to mention, join his wife, Jessica, and their two sons for dinner every night. George, who has battled a congenital heart condition since birth, also wants to focus on his health going forward.
“A recent surgery a few months ago really put things into perspective for me. I want to be sure that I’m around for my entire family, including my wife and kids, for a very long time,” said George.
An official transition date for Milanos House of Pizza Nashua will be July 14, 2025.
“To our wonderful staff and our amazing customers: Thank you for the 40+ years of continuing dedication, service, and relationships. We will continue to see everyone as we will still come in often. I hope everyone shows the same respect and dedication to the new owners as you all have shown us for many years. Remember Milano’s is not just a pizza shop, it’s more than that, it’s about family and it’s about treating everyone like family. Thank you to all of you and we hope it can continue like that for many more years,” said George.
